The new Puscifer album has been on heavy rotation the last few weeks, and one of the main reasons I keep coming back to it is because of its stunning album opener. I love that bass line, which might be the closest to Tool that Puscifer has ever sounded, without giving away too much of its own identity. And the female vocals by Carina Round compliment Maynard’s beautifully. But the part that gets me every single time? The way the beat switches at the 01:55 mark. Dark, sinister and brooding – this is what James Maynard Keenan knows how to do best.
